The Wanderer Returns

Babe strolled in the house this morning, missing for three and a half days, looking not too much the worse for wear.

She was a bit nervous and need some comforting. Also very hungry but I didn’t give her too much food all at once, small meals and often, I didn’t want to make her sick.

I had imagined the worst case scenarios but the got best possible outcome - my beautiful Babe is back – couldn’t wait to post the news on Cat-Things and Twitter.

My heart goes out to pet owners whose pet is missing or passed over to the Rainbow Bridge. I shall do an article soon on coping with the grief. I have been using a tapping technique while Babe was lost and found that it helped but more on that later.

Cat Things Slideshow

I’ve just made a slideshow for YouTube featuring my cats past and present.

I hope to one day get video footage but every time I try to film my cats they see me and run towards me. All you would see is two seconds of speeding cat followed by a cat’s tail near my feet. The only time they seem animated is when I’m busy doing something else, they get really playful when I’m outside gardening.

Presents From My Cats

Cat With Mouse

Cat With Mouse

I recently found two dead mice in the house and it made me think about all the presents that my cats, past and present, have brought me over the years.

While many of their offerings have been dead, quite a few have been live and kicking or flapping. I’ve had many hours of amusement? chasing mice around the house, some of them can really move; or trying to coax a bird to fly towards the open window.

There have been frogs, earthworms, whole intact eggs, various feather and leaves and on one occasion what seemed to be a kipper skin.

I wonder what is the strangest thing that was ever brought home by a cat.

Cat Things

Babe

Babe Cattykins (aged 3 months)

I am the owner of three very different cats, Danny Mittens a black polydactyl, Stole an elderly tuxedo cat, and Babe Cattykins a young black and white cat. I am at their beck and call, day and night and their welfare is of prime concern. If you adore your cats your cats will adore you.

I like to keep my cats happy because they bring so much joy into my life. Trying different foods, bedding, scratching posts and toys. To be honest they would probably be happy with cardboard boxes and bits of screwed up paper, but I don’t really want the litter permanently in my living room. So I buy catnip toys, things on strings, things to climb, and things to sleep in.

My cats are outdoorsy, so I am constantly letting them in, letting them out, in, out, in, out, etc. So the next cat things that I need for my sanity are catflaps. It isn’t so bad just now while the weather is warm and the doors and windows can be left open but it is a project that I intend to work on before the cold weather sets in. Cats can cause frustration at times but they make me smile and laugh every day which makes it all worthwhile.
