The Country Cat Shelter (CCS) is a charity in the Beccles area of Suffolk which operates with fosterers rather than having a central sanctuary. They have on average 60/70 cats and kittens that need re-homing with around 200 being found new homes each year.

All cats/kittens are either vaccinated prior to re-homing or a discounted vaccination is arranged and some assistance is given to cat owners in need, either financial or in food.

For £5.00 you can subscribe to the charity Newsletter and for as little as £10.00 you can sponsor a cat. Sponsors are needed particularly for cats who would be difficult to rehome, like Simba who was a feral kitten, perfectly happy with other cats and his brothers and sister at his foster home, but he won’t come near people.

The success stories are heart-warming, poor baby Whiskas who had to have a leg amputated but is now living happily in a safe and secure environment, so many cats now safe in foster homes and many more with their new forever families.

The Country Cat Shelter Objectives:

  • The provision of a sanctuary for the care and protection of cats and kittens. Also the placing of unwanted cats and kittens with new owners.
  • The assistance of people who are in necessitous circumstances in the care of their pets including neutering, spaying and including visits to the vets by grants towards the charges.
  • The giving of advice and information in the care of cats and kittens.
  • The welfare of the cats and or kittens remains our primary consideration at all times.
  • No cat or kittens are ever put to sleep unless to ease suffering and only then on the advice of a vet.
