Happy Landings Charity Event
The Happy Landings Animal Rescue Centre in Somerset UK is holding a charity event on Sunday, September 13, 2009.
There will be a PET PHOTO competition
- Class 1 – Prettiest markings
- Class 2 – Most appealing face
- Class 3 – Funniest photo
- Class 4 – Most contented life
- Class 5 – Best action shot
The main event will be the FUN DOG SHOW
- CLASS 1: Waggiest tail
- CLASS 2: Best rescue dog or bitch
- CLASS 3: Prettiest bitch
- CLASS 4: Most handsome dog
- CLASS 5: Best veteran dog or bitch (10 years plus)
- CLASS 6: Dog most like its owner
- CLASS 7: Most oddly matched dog & owner
- CLASS 8: Junior handler – entrants aged 7 to 13 years
- CLASS 9: Best condition dog or bitch
- CLASS 10: Posiest pair – fancy dress or best show-offs!
- CLASS 11: Most impressive party trick
- CLASS 12: Quickest lamp post christening!
- CLASS 13: Best in Show
Proceeds of the event will go towards providing care and shelter and veterinary attention for stray, abandoned, neglected, ill-treated, suffering or unwanted horses, ponies, goats, pigs, sheep, dogs, cats and other animals of all kinds which come into the custody of the charity and endeavouring to find suitable homes for such animals wherever practical.

Presents From My Cats
I recently found two dead mice in the house and it made me think about all the presents that my cats, past and present, have brought me over the years.
While many of their offerings have been dead, quite a few have been live and kicking or flapping. I’ve had many hours of amusement? chasing mice around the house, some of them can really move; or trying to coax a bird to fly towards the open window.
There have been frogs, earthworms, whole intact eggs, various feather and leaves and on one occasion what seemed to be a kipper skin.
I wonder what is the strangest thing that was ever brought home by a cat.
